Not sleeping well, so I got out to Avebury for another sunrise... unfortunately the rain clouds kind of spoilt the plan. Was a cool walk around Avebury in the rain though. These are two photos that I took, merging multiple exposures in Photoshop to avoid having a dark foreground or over-bright sky (cheaper than ND-grad filters). Not fantastic, but I like them.
Off to Weston on saturday, nice blustery weather, stormy clouds and a half decent sunset.
The excellent Birnbeck pier - built in 1867, used in WW2 to research secret weapons, now a grade II listed structure and the only pier in the world to link to an island no less.
Visited Stourhead National Trust park at the weekend.. luckily we got there early as the queues to get in were stupidly long when we left (people queue out the door and car queue 2-3 miles down the road). Was a nice walk around though, even if the autumn colours aren't full on yet and the place was swarming with cameras - probably the most Canon 1Ds and Nikon D2X's I've seen at any one time. Here are a few of my humble efforts...
Rusty barbed wire with colour co-ordinated bug. Snail surfers. Avenue to the past - view down the driveway of the abandoned RAF Yatesbury, an airbase in WW1 and WW2, closed in the 1960's.
