Project Kingfisher

Project Kingfisher is coming along nicely, despite the TV reports that they've had a tough winter I've seen at least 5 this last few weeks, including some about as local as can be which is handy (both photos are of the male).

I've been able to spend a couple of hours, but nothing serious yet (no hide or camo etc), so these are some of the first photos I've got of them.

Just a quick note here to say that if you do spot kingfishers at this time of year, make sure you are not near their nest (holes near the top of steep banks, usually with bird poo beneath).  They are easily disturbed and you risk a large fine, a special license proving you know what you are doing is required to take photos near nests at this time of year.

Melksham Birds

A flock of local bird snaps from the last few weeks.  I probably should have selected 1-2 of the best, but thought I'd let them all on as there's been a bit of a break in delivery...

.. a few of the non-nature pics from the last few weeks.  Nothing stunning really, I like them all for different reasons: textures, light, tone..  but the engine one is my personal favourite of the bunch.
