Lake District Holiday

Spent 4-5 days in the Lake District, camping just off Windermere, was nice dispite being cloudy, windy and a little too rainy even for my liking. Not overly impressed by my photos, didn't seem to take too many, partly because of the rain and partly because I didn't want lots of the same lake/mountains kind of thing.

The place seemed dotted with cool things to photograph, such as this rusty old trawler.

Two from around Buttermere lake.

A windy and rainy Ullswater on the way back from a long walk up Place Fell (658m/2156 feet).

..and a cool panorama of Buttermere..

Mov Rev: Hard Candy

Boring, not shocking, over hyped. If the subject matter doesn't shock and intrigue you before you see the film, avoid it. The film is acted well enough and has some good, clever camera echniques etc, but the script is poor and gets boring pretty quickly. The pace seems so drawn out that I just wanted the film to end without even caring what happened to any of the characters.

Highlight was the Pirates of the Caribbean:DMC trailer. Not recommended.

An underage 14 out of 80.

Better than having your nuts extracted, not as good as eating last christmas's leftover walnuts.

Mov Rev: An Unfinished Life

An excellent film, well written, well acted and not too long, just the way I like my emotional drama type films. Robert Redford is brilliant, easy one of the best actors about still. J-Lo puts in a decent performance and suits the role she plays well enough to not irritate too much (for those that aren't dazzled by her supposed good looks).
Recommended.
7 out of 10 bears preferred it.

Better than every other J-Lo film (probably), not as good as having J-Lo's bank balance.

Mov Rev: The Omen (2006)

Another hard film to make, I'm a big fan of the original trilogy and found this just didn't seem to do things right. I think overall it was alright - but if you remake a film it needs to be better than the original not just a 6th-6-06 flimsy excuse to redo it. Some of the acting was ok (Damien and Bugenhagen etc), but the scenes and music just don't have the same ominous quality they had in the original. The zoo bit, church visit bit, the italian graveyard bit are all no where near as good.
But then the bits they copied directly from the original I thought I'd seen it all before so why bother.

Overall pretty disappointing, but it's hard to see how they could have improved it without just re-releasing the original (as they did with The Exorcist)

Not as good as The Omen (1976), better than burning in hell for all eternity.

Brean weekend

Spent the weekend camping at Brean in Somerset, in between keeping 5 year old Tyler entertained I managed to snap a couple more photos..

Tyler manages to find a quiet spot on the packed beach.

Throwing sand into the sun. Should have seen it coming but he managed to throw sand over the camera 5 minutes later. :

You can't go a west coast beach without taking at least one sunset over the sea..
