Cheerful Chisbury

Went wandering round Little Bedwyn and Chisbury, shot some wildlife down the canal...

.. then a swift visit to the 13th century Chisbury Chapel ..

.. then a high speed shot of Cherhill monument out the car window on the way home.

Two Wheeled Freedom..

I explored my world by bike on saturday, things look better the slower you go and after over 6 hours of cycling, home looked especially nice. This was also my first trip out with my new lens which I am very pleased with already..

Reeds in part of the restored Wilts and Berks canal near Chippenham.

North Wilts Festival

Went to the North Wilts Festival in Chippenham (free concert & fireworks) headlined by epic 80's bands Bucks Fizz and Go West. (actually liked some of Go West's songs in a nostalgic 5 pints of cider hazey kind of way).

Wander round Wellow..

Mov Rev: Superman Returns

Another entry for film of the year, from the amazing intro to the end Christopher Reeve tribute I loved it. The casting and acting are excellent, the story is near perfect and the effects are also brilliant. One of the best superhero/comic films of recent years and definitely worthy of continuing where the amazing original films left off.

9/10

Better than wearing your pants on the outside, not as good as having x-ray vision and flying in space.

Wylye Valley

Walked around the Wylye valley south of Warminster, was extremely hot and extremely nice ..

If Carlsberg made door hinges..

This bee should be in focus?? I think he was vibrating :)

Herd of angry bulls, not the most relaxing of things to walk past, turns out the farmer was more agressive though.

Mov Rev: Pirates of the Caribbean-Dead Mans Chest

Well here it is, one of my favourites for film of the year, and it hasn't disappointed. Definitely the best film this year, probably since King Kong. I was worried for the first 20 minutes or so, which seemed a bit contrived and didn't flow particularly well, but it seems they were getting all the 'what's happened since the last film' story out of the way. Once the main story kicks in and the action gets going the film is superb.
Captain Jack is fantastic, Orlando Bloom even seems more watchable than the first film and Bill Nighy as Davy Jones is amazing. In fact too many of the cast were too good, I can't mention them them all. The script is good, clever and funny, the action is amazing, costumes and settings are (un)believable (especially Davy Jones' crew - I never thought they'd beat the style of the undead pirates but I think they did).

A worthy sequel to the original, in my opinion.

14 out of 15 men on a dead mans chest... Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

Better than every other film this year, not as good as the next in the trilogy (hopefully).

Mov Rev: Ultraviolet

Probably the worst film I've seen this year, one of the worst since Catwoman I think, unfortunately. The script is bad, the acting is bad, the direction and storyboarding are bad, however the film does have a certain feel to it and there are some good camera angles and tricks that make some scenes quite stylish. I do wonder if the cheesy, embarrassingly cringeworthy acting and dialogue were done on purpose as part of the comic book approach to the film, but none of the comics I read were ever this bad.

Best bit was the disposible mobile phones, printed from a terminal on the wall, nice idea. Milla Jovovich seems to be keeping fit and appears in several tight costumes, but it's just not enough to compensate for the rest of the film.

Better than Catwoman (just), not as good as Resident Evil.
