4

Still no PC working, so still no new photos unfortunately.

However ..  it was on this day 4 years ago that I was excitedly opening up a brand new Canon 350D that began my venture into digital photography!  Somewhere around 26,000 photos later and I am still learning and loving every shot.  My cameras have taken me to all sorts of places and they've shown me all kinds of wonderful things...

From glorious sunrises on a peaceful frosty morning to the raw intensity of heavy metal concerts. From wide eyed, wild deers in a sea of bluebells to ground shaking steam locomotives thundering past.
From gloriously warm barley fields swaying in the summer evening light to beautiful frozen snowscapes of winter.
From the smallest insects on the brightest flower to cavernous cathedrals of piercing light and heavy shadows.
From the Lochs and otters of Scotland in the north to the crashing seas and cormorants of the south coast.
From relics of a long forgotten history to the latest events creating todays history.
From the youngest fuzzy, new born swans to the might and gentle strength of 1000 year old Oaks.
From long exposures of blurry seas and late sunset skies to snaphots of swooping falcons taken in an instance.
From carefully planned and organised compositions to those ever-welcome happy coincidences of natural co-operation.
From wild horses in New Forest mists to the roaring horse power and drama of a tractor pull.

.. and so the adventure continues...

A break in transmission

No new photos this time unfortunately, there possibly won't be any for a while as both my PC and car are seriously broken at the moment, but for as long as there is space on my flash card and my camera is still working, I will carry on snapping until I can post again.

Until then,a quick pointer at the new SeeSaw TV.. http://www.seesaw.com/TV/Factual/b-11864-Animal-Camera  .. ignore the adverts and there are quite a few good archive BBC wildlife series stored on the site (not available on iPlayer or Wildlife Finder).

Wandering still-lifes

Amazing stained-glassmanship at St Thomas a Becket church, Box. Stunning colours, detail and design.

More nice cloudy difuse lighting side lights an accidental still-life arrangement of vases. This time inside Box cemetery chapel.

Love this lighting, perfect for moody church shots, here some bibles and worn tiles get the treatment..

A shed full of old tractors.. and some trousers?!

Shadow Boxing

With some relatively pleasant weather at the weekend it was out and about for a wander along a valley heading out of Box, Wiltshire (of Brunels Box tunnel fame).  With lots of hazey clouds for a natural diffuser, it was spot-on for a few moody black and white photos..

First up, a 1950s Ford Anglia.  The budget car of its age, it cost £300, had 3 gears and a top speed of 57mph.  Some great curves, details and light/shade, certainly a thousand times more photogenic than most new cars, where health and safety and a wind-tunnel blows away any character.

A stairwell inside Rudloe Manor, a now derelict house within the grounds of the Joint Forces base at Corsham.  Which sits on top of a giant underground aircraft engine factory, built in world war 2.  The buildings have been used in a range of roles, from an RAF fighter Control station to a satellite communication site (Skynet) in the 1960's.

Lastly...  rat catchers taking a break.
